The Biggest Loser Season 3 - BurgenĀ® Healthy Eating Challenge!

This week is the Burgen® Healthy Eating challenge, where each team is pitted against each other to make the ultimate low-calorie sandwich using Burgen® bread. Each team needs to make ONE sandwich with TWO slices of bread using Burgen® Wholemeal & Seeds bread.

Burgen® Wholemeal & Seeds bread is low GI, has lower carbohydrates than standard white bread* and contains protein and dietary fibre to help keep you fuller for longer. The teams must use only 5 out of the 12 ingredients in front of them, each at 50 grams, including at least ONE meat or meat substitute.



Each team is only allowed to use their Food Colour option for this challenge - Reds with green foods, Blues with red foods and Blacks with white foods. The team with the sandwich with the lowest calorie count wins the Burgen® Healthy Eating challenge! The prize on offer is too good to pass up: 1st - 10 minute call home; 2nd - 5 minute call home; 3rd - 5 minute call home.

The challenge begins to a great start, with the Reds choosing prawns for their meat. Bryce from the Black Team is initially confused which to choose for their meat: Chicken, Tuna or Tofu. Carrianne asks: "Who puts tofu in a sandwich???" The Reds are momentarily torn with whether or not to put tabouli on their sandwich or not - not knowing if it's been made with oil. In the end they opt for the tabouli.

At the end of the challenge, it's the Blues who win with their Roast Beef, Tomatoes, Red Onion, Red Cabbage and Capsicum sandwich on Burgen® Wholemeal & Seeds bread at a total calorie count of 324 calories.

The Reds come in second with their Prawns, Lettuce, Cucumber, Shallot/Green Onions, and tabouli sandwich on Burgen® Wholemeal & Seeds bread at a total of 356.6 calories.

Last but not least, the Blacks come in with their Chicken, White Onion, Cottage Cheese, Spring Onion and Mushroom sandwich on Burgen® Wholemeal & Seeds bread, at 377.5 calories.
