This is it - it's been over 3 months in the making, 12 weeks of blood, sweat and tears, spanning 2 continents, 30 contestants and 3 teams and now we arrive at the final destination. Tonight, Ajay says, will be crowned the 2008 Biggest Loser! Will it be Sam, Kirsten or Alison? Who will walk away with $200,000? Welcome to the 2008 Biggest Loser Finale!
Over the last 3 months all the contestants have travelled their own weight loss journey. But before they could achieve their goals, they first needed to work as a team. It all began when Sam and Cosi rose up to the challenge and conquered the Maze, allowing them to choose their trainers and their team members. As the weeks progressed and the weight dropped off, the pressure started to show. But no-one was prepared for the biggest shock of all - The Black Team! As the end of the game drew closer, and goal weights were reached, team loyalties intensified until the only people left standing were all Blue. Blue loyalties triumphed!
It's time to revisit the teams, starting with the Blue Team. Plagued with injuries from the start, they had always been classed as the underdogs. But one thing's for sure - these underdogs can bite! We retrace the journey for the Blue Team, from their highs and lows, conquering age, weight and illness to rise above the other teams. But it wasn't all smooth sailing, with tensions boiling over between team members and trainers. But out of adversity comes strength, and when 4 became 3 with Michael's elimination, the Blues remained more resolved than ever. It's been nothing short of a fairytale ending for the Blues…
One by one the Blues come out and their transformations are nothing short of amazing! Especially Sean, whose transformation has to be seen to be believed. With Debbie, Michael and Sean on stage there's only one more team member missing: John. Although he had to leave the game, he remains an important part of the Blue Team - and he's in the audience. John says that he's never felt better since being in the Biggest Loser. Ajay says that he's been an inspiration to thousands of Australians with a heart condition. John says that his advice to those out there with a heart condition is that it doesn't matter how old you are, or whatever your predicament is, you just have to keep battling on - you need to take control of your own life. Ajay invites him to come on stage and join his fellow team mates. Together, they are Blue For Life.
Although the Blues may have each other, there was one contestant who was sadly eliminated early in the game: Monica! Stepping out from behind the silk screen, Monica shows that her time outside of the house hadn't been wasted.
It was now time for the Reds, and Ajay says that there was no team more worth an adversary than the Red Team! The team had begun well, comprising of the fittest, youngest contestants in the game. But the good times didn't last long - cracks became gulfs and alliances were formed. It wasn't until they started working together that the tide turned for them and they were once again on the front foot. Before long, they stake their claim and rose to become a fighting force during the challenges. But little by little personalities within the team grew too big for some to handle, and before long it was only left up to Garry, Nicola and Cosi to carry the Red Team flag. Their alliance is what kept them together as long as they did, until Nicola fell to the Blue and Black alliance. This left only two Reds left -Cosi and Garry. So when the opportunity rose to eliminate the strongest player in the game, the Blues capitalised and left Garry the only surviving member of the Reds until he was the only one left standing in the Blue's way. The Red Team members emerge from behind the silk screen, and they too show that they are doing extremely well on the outside: they're fit, their beautiful and their healthy!
But there are another group of people who didn't get to make it into the Blue, Red or Black Teams - the Eliminated 11! Competing on the outside on The Biggest Loser Club Website, these now happy, healthy contestants have proven to everyone that it is possible to make your wildest dreams come true! After being sent home, the "Club 11" had the opportunity to battle it out for a $10,000 cash prize for the Club's Biggest Loser. And with winner of the Club 11 Biggest Loser title is… Craig Smith! He started his journey at 142.3 kilos, and now weighs in at 91 kilos, a loss of 51.3 kilos! A phenomenal result - he's now $10,000 richer. Craig says he feels very proud of himself - his fitter and healthier, and can now play with his son more, the reason why he has joined the competition to begin with.
The competition wouldn't be what it was without revisiting the top secret project that was the Black Team! Culled from the remaining eliminated 15 contestants who didn't make it into the White House, they were sent to Los Angeles to train with two of the best trainers in the world: Bob and Jillian. Right from the start they knew it wasn't going to be easy, and sadly as the weeks wore away Steven could not keep up with the pressure and had to leave. But in his stead came a familiar, if not infamous face - JJ! Tensions reached boiling point when personalities clashed. The Black Team took this in their stride and powered on but to no avail. One by one they were eliminated from the competition until Bryce and Michelle won their way back in. Unfortunately the alliance of the Blue Team proved its strength once again and Michelle was voted out. Bryce too would leave the game shortly, choosing to take the cash reward for his place in the competition. Although the secret project was no more, they will forever be the Black Team.
Each of the Black Team members walks out proud from behind the silk screen - their new lean, fit physiques cutting a dangerous silhouette! With all the teams now out on stage, it's time for them all to weigh in and see who will claim the runner up prize…
