The Biggest Loser - Episode Sixty-Eight

Mon 21 Apr 2008 1:33 PM

The contestants walk out on the Weigh-In Room with heads held low - they once again must eliminate someone out of the game. With only a week left before the finale this is the time when alliances can crumble and friendships are disintegrated. Nothing is a sure bet, and nothing can ever be taken for granted.

Sitting in the den, Bryce openly tells Kirsten that her allegations of cheating were 'disgusting'. Kirsten is certain that her statement that Bryce had purposefully let himself put on a few kilos have sealed her fate - this eliminated will go down to the wire. Michelle says that she's not going down without a fight, but if there is a Hung Vote then she's automatically eliminated from the game, having the lowest percentage weight loss during the Weigh-In.

Michelle meets with Sam upstairs to try and gauge how he will be voting. Michelle tells him that with the game inexorably approaching the end, he needs to consider his threats from his friends. Sam says that he has always been a big advocate of staying true to team loyalties, but his decision today could decide his stop in the finals - he needs to consider his position in the game very carefully.

Realising that the Blue Alliance is still quite strong, Michelle talks to Garry about a potential alliance with Bryce and herself. Michelle reminds him that with he being the only Red left in the game that should he fall below the Yellow Line with another Blue that his time on The Biggest Loser will end. It would greatly benefit him to ally himself with Michelle and Bryce if he's to stay in the game.

Sam and Kirsten meet outside in the garden to discuss the looming situation. Kirsten says that she's unsure about how Garry will sway during the voting, so she wants to know what Sam is thinking, and whether or not she has his support. But Sam doesn't offer Kirsten anything to feel confident about. Although she feels incredibly nervous about Sam's reluctance to commit a pledge to her, she recognises that it is still a game and that at this stage falling below the Yellow Line is nothing short of disastrous. She's worried about Sam, but recognises that he's got to do what he has to do - it's all she can really say.
The contestants enter the Elimination Room, silver platters in hand carrying the fate of both Kirsten and Michelle on cards under silver lids. Michelle feels that anything is possible with this Elimination and that a Hung Vote is something that could happen.

It's time for deliberation and Bryce is up first. He says that he's going to stick to his friends and will continue to vote along team lines. He raises his lid to reveal Kirsten's name. Alison is next to vote and says that the only reason why she's voted the way she has was because this person had fallen below the Yellow Line with her friend and a fellow Blue Team member. With that she lifts her lid to reveal Michelle's name.

With a vote a piece, Kirsten and Michelle's fate rests on Sam. If Sam votes for Kirsten then Garry will have the deciding vote, but if Sam votes for Michelle then not even Garry's vote will be able to save her from elimination.

Sam looks visibly nervous as he tells the room the reasons for his vote. He says that in the past people have voted using different reasons for their choice. Some have voted on Personality, and whether or not they have gotten along with the people up for elimination. Others have voted for people because they have deserved to go, or to stay. But the most common reason to vote someone out of the game is for strategic reasons, which brings him to his decision - does he take out the biggest threat in the game, or does he stick to team loyalty?

At the end, no matter how much he thought the choices through he decided to listen to his gut - and it was telling him to "stay true, stay blue". He lifts his lid to reveal Michelle's name.

With that Michelle is voted out of the game. She's sad yet happy to have been part of this life-changing experience. Michelle says that she can't wait to get back home and put into practice everything that she had learned while being in the White House. But before she leaves, she tells Sam that his decision may cost him the title. Kirsten says that both Alison and Sam's votes in her favour are greatly appreciated, and that hopefully she will be able to repay them sometime in future.

Bryce says that he'll miss Michelle, but is confident that she'll do well on the outside - she's the 'ballsiest' out of everyone and never fears to speak her mind.

With sad goodbyes Michelle leaves the game for the second time. Ajay says that the next week will hold the ultimate surprise yet for the remaining contestants, as hard decisions will have to be made in the coming few days…
